2.The Shining- Stephen King

Published in 1977, this horror novel that centers on the life of an aspiring writer and recovering alcoholic who accepts a position as the off-season caretaker of a historic hotel. As the story proceeds the supernatural forces inhabiting the hotel influence Jack’s sanity, leaving his wife and son in incredible danger.

4.The Exorcist- William Peter Blatty

The novel detailing the demonic possession of 12-years -old Regan MacNeil and the two priests who attempt to exorcise the demon. Published in 1971, the novel is inspired by a 1949 case of demonic possession and exorcism and has been liked by 95% of the readers.

This 1967’s horror novel revolves around a young couple, who has just moved into an old Gothic Revival style apartment. They were warned about the history of the building including witchcraft and murder, but they initially choose to ignore. But as the story proceeds, Rosemary delivers a baby who is found to be Antichrist, and the father of the child is not her husband, but Satan.

6.The Amityville Horror- Jay Anson

It is based on the true incident that took place on the Ocean Avenue, on the south shore of Long Island, New York, in which Ronald DeFeo Jr. Shot and killed six members of his family and was later convicted of second-degree murder in 1975.


7.Haunted-Chuck Palahniuk

The plot is a frame story for a series of 23 short stories. The dominant motifs in the novel are sexual deviance, social distastefulness, homosexuality, existentialism and also murder, death, disease.
