Whenever we use this word the first person whom we image is the one and only Mr.Shah Rukh Khan. He has always made people crazy by his eye grabbing performances as we say “buddhe ho ya jawan” everyone has to be his fan. Our Bollywood King is completing 25 years in the industry .Entertaining us throughout these years , he deserves the honour.
Answer to one question how many of us do actually know SRK and has kept account of all his awards, films and stuff? Well not talking to the crazy fans but to the not so serious fans like me who love his movies like hell but “agar unke baare mein pucho toh, ghanta kuch pata hai”.
Shah Rukh khan was born was born on 2nd November,1965 in a Muslim family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s.Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his entire family used to speak Hindko language at home. He completed his degrees from Hansraj College in Delhi. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991, after a six-year courtship. As we all know they have three children Aryan, Suhana and Abram be the cutest.
Shah Rukh started his career through television shows and made his debut in Fauji in 1989 and did various other shows. He was not interested in movies at that point because he thought himself to be not so good.Khan changed his decision to act in films in April 1991.His first offer was for Hema Malini’s directorial debut Dil Aashna Hai,and by June, he had started his first shoot. His film debut was in Deewana, which was released in June 1992.
Well the year 1993-1994 was an anti hero year talking about “Darr” and “Baazigar”. We teenagers are quite acquainted with the dialogue “ I love you k-k-k-kiran”..aren’t we? Darr marked the first of Khan’s many collaborations with the film-maker Yash Chopra and his company Yash Raj Films. His performance in Baazigar, which would be his first of many appearances with actress Kajol, won Khan his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor. Also in 1994, Khan won the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role as an obsessive lover in Anjaam, co-starring Madhuri Dixit and Deepak Tijori.
The year 1995-1998 was the year of love where he played the genre of roles for which he is known for that is romance. This year marked the evidence of the turning point of his life and also one of his most significant release..any guesses…” DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE” which is even a hit till current date. It was declared an “all time blockbuster” by Box Office India with a gross of over ₹1.22 billion (US$19 million) worldwide. It is the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema; it is still showing at the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai after more than 1000 weeks. The film won ten Filmfare Awards, including the second of Khan’s Best Actor Awards. In the honour of its 20 years a sequence was made “Dilwale”unfortunately which was not such a big hit.How can we even forget “ Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” which was referred as the blockbuster of the 1990s, a “pot-pourri of romance, comedy, and entertainment” by the writer of the film.
As we all know life is not so smooth. Similarly, lots of challenges were also waiting for Mr.Khan. The year of challenges 1999-2003.Khan’s only release in 1999 was Baadshah, in which he starred opposite Twinkle Khanna.it earned him a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Performance in a Comic Role, which he lost to Govinda for Haseena Maan Jaayegi. Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani starring Khan and Chawla, was a commercial failure. It was released one week after Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, starring Hrithik Roshan, then a newcomer, who critics believed overshadowed Khan. In December 2001, Khan suffered a spinal injury while performing an action sequence for a special appearance. By the beginning of 2003, his condition had worsened to the point that he had to undergo anterior cervical disectomy.
The only success during this period was ‘Kabhi khushi kabhie gham’ and ‘Mohabbatein’ which I claim to be my favourite. Then he shot for the most expensive film of Bollywood none other than “Devdas” which i feel the teenagers of today’s generation have taken too seriously..Just kidding! Similarly he provided us with lot of films including Main Hoon Nah, My name is Khan and many more.
Now we talk about recent times Raaes where he again portrayed a negative role after ages and amazed us with his eye bobbling performance. Last but not the least we are eagerly waiting for Khan in his next star in Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal with Anushka Sharma in August 2017.
In 2008, Khan, in partnership with Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta, acquired ownership rights for the franchise representing Kolkata in the Twenty20 cricket tournament Indian Premier League (IPL) for US$75.09 million, and named the team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and also engrossed himself in film production and television hosting.
Khan is one of the wealthiest and most powerful celebrities in India. In 2009, his net worth was estimated at over US$540 million. In 2013, according to the Hurun Report, Khan was placed in the 114th position on a list of the wealthiest Indians, with personal assets of over $400 million. In 2014, the firm Wealth X ranked Khan second in their listing of the richest actors in the world.
The most important thing which has won the heart of millions of people is always his sense of humour and choice of films. As we have witnessed in his various interviews how he cuts the traps of the reporters by his diplomatic way of speaking. To end with he gained most romantic hero title without kissing any heroines until 2012 which tells us that acting is the main spice of entertainment. Eagerly waiting for a biopic on his life because the life of this man deserves to be known.
